During her last port call at Antsiranana from 5 to 8 February (Diego Suarez), crew members of Spanish warship ESPS Tornado carried out training with a team of 18 people from the Malagasy Navy.
The training focused on counter-piracy and boarding operations, followed by a realistic simulation of a boarding action inside a merchant vessel, simulated by ESPS Tornado.
Talking about the training, Commanding Officer of ESPS Tornado, Lieutenant Commander Juan Jose Belizón stated: “This time together has been very fruitful, providing the opportunity to grow mutual understanding between the EU Naval Force and the Malagasy Navy, which is a key regional partner in the area due to its location.”
After the training ESPS Tornado resumed her duties patrolling in the south of the EU Naval Force operations area.
