November 17, 2015 - 14:25Over the weekend Dutch Warship, HNLMS Groningen, continued her protection of UN FAO vessel, MV Kestrel, as it deployed Fishery Aggregating Devices, or FADs, to help develop the fishing grounds off the coast of Somalia for the local fishermen.
As well as escorting MV Kestrel, HNLMS Groningen also helped to identify the correct position to lay the FADs along the sea bed.
Following the successful deployment of one of the FADs, Somali Ministers, who had been invited onboard to witness the evolution, were taken back to shore and HNLMS Groningen continued her escort of MV Kestrel as sailed north towards the next FAD laying location.
