Continued counter-piracy cooperation with Indian Navy
September 6, 2018 - 13:25Operation Atalanta is fully committed to continuing international cooperation to extend the capability, reach and effectiveness of counter-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia.
EU NAVFOR Spanish Flagship ESPS Castilla rendezvoused with Indian Naval Ship (INS) Teg (a Talwar-Class Frigate) on the 4th of September 2018, this meeting shows the depth of collaboration, which currently exists between EU NAVFOR and India protecting the freedom of navigation through the waters off Somalia.
EU NAVFOR’s Operation Atalanta has had its mandate extended for another two years and plans to remain at the centre of a complex network of counter-piracy actors throughout the region to ensure the safe transit of vulnerable shipping and to deter the continuing threat of piracy.
