ESPS Galicia Welcomes Spanish Ambassador During Port Visit to Muscat
July 19, 2017 - 09:53During their recent port visit to Muscat, ESPS Galicia’s ship’s company welcomed aboard the Spanish Ambassador to Oman, His Excellency José Antonio Bordallo Huidobro.
During the visit the Ambassador was given a briefing on the European Union’s counter-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia and Spain’s continuing commitment to Operation Atalanta, which includes the deployment of warships, maritime patrol aircraft and military personnel.
Speaking during the visit, EU NAVFOR’s Force Commander, Rear Admiral Rafael Fernández-Pintado Muñoz-Rojas, expressed his gratitude to the Spanish Ambassador for taking the time to visit ESPS Galicia: stating “The ship’s company, my Force HQ staff and I very much appreciate you taking the time to visit us today.”
Port visits such as this are an opportunity for the ship’s company to re-supply essential stores and food.
