EU Naval Force Flagship FS Siroco Ensures Safe Delivery Of EUCAP Nestor Vehicles To Mombasa
January 16, 2014 - 17:15On Saturday 11 January 2014, EU Naval Force French flagship, FS Siroco conducted a transfer operation of two armoured vehicles to Mombasa. The armoured vehicles belong to EUCAP Nestor and are due to be transfered in EUCAP Nestor Mogadishu office later.
The successful delivery, which was carried out with the support of the French Embassy in Mombasa, and in close cooperation with Kenyan Security Forces, highlighted the full cooperation of European Union missions in the Horn of Africa and how they work together through the EU’s Comprehensive Approach.
Upon EUCAP Nestor’s request for logistic assistance, the two vehicles were embarked in FS Siroco in Djibouti and transferred by sea to Mombasa.
After the delivery operation ended, EU NAVFOR Force Commander, Rear Admiral Hervé Bléjean commented: “This vehicle delivery assistance performed today for EUCAP Nestor is clearly one of the examples showing the increasingly cooperative and dynamic EU operations in the region. EU Naval Force will continue to support the EU’s comprehensive approach throughout our area of operations.”
