EU Naval Force Ocean Patrol Vessel ESPS Relampago Trains Seychelles Coast Guard During Port Visit
May 6, 2014 - 11:24During a recent port visit to the Seychelles, the EU Naval Force warship, ESPS Relampago conducted local maritime capacity building (LMCB) training with the Seychelles Coast Guard. Hosted at the Port Victoria Naval Base, the training, which focused on medical procedures, included briefing and practical demonstrations on how to treat burns, fractures and severe bleeding.
LMCB training is conducted in close cooperation and coordination with the EU mission, EUCAP Nestor, and contributes to the EU’s comprehensive approach to counter-piracy off Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa. Within their means and capabilities, EU Naval Force units support LMCB by providing training to regional countries aimed to enhance maritime capabilities.
ESPS Relampago has been operating with the EU Naval Force since Sunday 23 February.
