EU NAVFOR Attends Service of Remembrance in Dar Es Salaam
November 13, 2017 - 13:12The British High Commission and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany held a united Service of Remembrance at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and German War Memorial in Dar Es Salaam on 12th November 2017.
The multi-faith ceremony, which is organised annually by either the British or German staff, was attended by European Union Naval Force personnel as well as a large number of EU and regional countries’ ambassadors and dignitaries. The Tanzanian People’s Defence Forces provided the guard and a military band for this Remembrance Day service.
The Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and German War Memorial in Dar Es Salaam is home to 1804 British and Commonwealth graves from the First and Second World Wars, which lie alongside 112 war graves of armed forces personnel from other Nations, the majority of which are from Belgium and Germany, dating back to the First World War.
