EU NAVFOR Force Commander visits Dutch ship HNLMS AMSTERDAM at sea
October 4, 2010 - 14:19
On 3 October, EU NAVFOR Force Commander, Rear-Admiral Philippe Coindreau, took the opportunity to visit the EU NAVFOR fast combat support ship HNLMS AMSTERDAM, during a replenishment at sea operation with the Flagship FS DE GRASSE, off the eastern coasts of Somalia.
“HNLMS AMSTERDAM is a key asset in our Task Force as it does not only have a tanker option, but also impressive operational capabilities. She is therefore able to fuel all Task Force units and conduct counter-piracy operations as well”, said the Force Commander.
The rendezvous off the coast of Somalia between the two ships was also the occasion for a crew member from HNLMS AMSTERDAM to make use of FS DE GRASSE’S X-Ray equipment for medical purposes.
