EU NAVFOR HS ADRIAS continues to work with local charities in Mombasa.
November 23, 2010 - 16:23
On the 19th of November, the crew of HS ADRIAS, during a port visit to Mombasa, visited a charity to provide donations to a local children’s home (“The Bee Hive Children’s Home”), a home for for less fortunate children in need.
This is a charity that is completely dependent on well-wisher’s contributions.
HS ADRIAS have now built up a very good relationship with The Bee Hive Children’s Home, on this, their second visit to the Home during their tour with OP ATALANTA. The entire crew made a donation towards the daily running and maintenance costs of the Children’s Home. The Greek Navy has a long tradition, both at home and abroad, of supporting charities to assist those in needs.
The crew of HS ADRIAS was well remembered by the children of the Home from their last visit to the Home. In addition to providing food and water tanks to the Home, individual small gifts (toys and sweets) were given to the children by the crew.
In addition, the ship’s doctor and nurse dispensed a variety medicines and vaccines. On the departure of the ship’s crew, it was clear that the support to the Home by crew of EU NAVFOR warship ADRIAS was greatly appreciated by the children. It is hoped this relationship will continue.
