EU NAVFOR Spanish Ship INFANTA CRISTINA shares knowledge in Salalah
August 26, 2010 - 09:19
Many actors but one same goal in the area of operation: making seas safer by deterring and disrupting piracy in the Gulf of Aden and the Somali Basin.
With the significant number of Navies operating off the Coast of Somalia, it is of utmost importance that EUNAVFOR ships liaise with their counterparts and share experiences, practices and knowledge of the area.
For this reason, officers from EU NAVFOR SPS INFANTA CRISTINA met with teams from the Chinese destroyer LANGZHOU, Indian destroyer DELHI and Russian destroyer MOSKVA during her port visit in Salalah (Oman).
EU NAVFOR SPS INFANTA CRISTINA also called on the port authority in Salalah, who was keen to engage and help EUNAVFOR promote the implementation of Best Management Practices on visiting merchant vessels. In addition, the Spanish ship’s crew distributed leaflet information about the Best Management Practices and the risks of piracy in the area to merchant and fishing vessels alongside.
