EU NAVFOR thanks the German frigate FGS SCHLESWIG HOLSTEIN

On 17 September, after 124 days, the German ship FGS SCHLESWIG HOLSTEIN conducted her final task as part of the EU NAVFOR Task Force.
One of her last tasks was to escort vessels from the World Food Programme (WFP) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) together with the EU NAVFOR Flagship FS DE GRASSE.
The warship also gave medical assistance to a crew member of MV Syria Star on 6 August, just after the merchant vessel had been released from pirates.
EU NAVFOR Somalia – Operation ATALANTA’s main tasks are to escort merchant vessels carrying humanitarian aid of the World Food Programme (WFP) and vessels of African Union Mission in Somalia, AMISOM and to protect vulnerable vessels in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean and to deter and disrupt piracy. EU NAVFOR also monitors fishing activity off the coast of Somalia.
