EU NAVFOR welcomes French destroyer FS DE GRASSE

EU NAVFOR’s capacity has been reinforced with the arrival of the Navy anti-submarine destroyer DE GRASSE in the area of operations.
FS DE GRASSE is a destroyer of the F67 class and has been in service of the French Navy since 1977. She has a displacement of 6100 tons and is equipped with two steam turbines. She also carries two Lynx helicopters.
FS DE GRASSE and its 300 crew members will be the platform for EUNAVFOR new Force Headquarter and the Force Commander Rear-Admiral Coindreau. Rear-Admiral Coindreau and his staff will assume the command of TF 465, from August 14, 2010.
