EU NAVFOR welcomes French frigate FS FLOREAL
November 9, 2011 - 10:57Wednesday 9 November, the French frigate FS FLOREAL has integrated the EU NAVFOR Task Force 465.
FS FLOREAL is a 93.5 meter long frigate based on the French island “La Réunion” and has a displacement of 2950 t when fully loaded. She has a crew of just under 100 and is equipped with a Panther helicopter.
EU NAVFOR Somalia is a counter-piracy taskforce operating in the area of the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean responsible for repressing acts of piracy and for the safe escort of ships carrying World Food Program aid and vessels of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Additionally, EU NAVFOR monitors fishing activity off the coast of Somalia.
