HNLMS Rotterdam Conducts Maritime Training with Seychelles Military personnel
September 29, 2017 - 13:49On 25th and 26th September EU NAVFOR’s Dutch Warship HNLMS Rotterdam conducted a local maritime capacity building (LMCB) exercise with Seychelles military personnel.
The LMCB focused on boarding operations and evidence gathering with the Seychelles Air Force and Coast guard. The embarked Dutch and Swedish Marines and crew delivered the maritime training as part of the EU’s comprehensive approach to tackling piracy on the high seas.
The Seychelles military personnel were shown first hand, the capabilities of the Swedish combat boat (SWE CB90) and the Dutch fast-raiding interception craft (NL FRISC) as well as the Landing Platform Dock amphibious warfare ship HNLMS Rotterdam
The LMCB training was considered a great success with both HNLMS Rotterdam and the Seychellois enjoying the opportunity to continue the vital training together.
EU NAVFOR is committed to deter, prevent and repress acts of piracy off the coast of Somalia. Operation Atalanta continually works with key partners to ensure the maritime capability is enhanced across the region.
