Operation Atalanta Flagship ESPS Galicia Trains with Tanzania Maritime Law Enforcement Detachment During Port Visit to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania

Operation Atalanta warships regularly conduct training with local maritime forces to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding in the fight against piracy and other maritime crime in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.

During ESPS Galicia's recent port visit to Dar es Salaam, members of the Tanzania Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) were invited on board to conduct a number of exercises, ranging from boat handling drills, first aid, boarding procedures and damage control.

Throughout the day, the LEDET team showed great enthusiasm for the training and on completion they thanked ESPS Galicia crew for all time they have dedicated to improve Tanzanian maritime capabilities and  also highly reiterated their willingness to continue participating in this kind of collaboration with all EU NAVFOR assets that put in at Dar-es-Salaam port.
