Operation Atalanta Bids Farewell to Spanish Warship ESPS Meteoro off the Coast of Somalia
November 16, 2015 - 15:44On Sunday 15 November 2015 ESPS Meteoro started her journey home to Spain after completing a three-month deployment with Operation Atalanta off the coast of Somalia.
During her time on operations, ESPS Meteoro conducted counter-piracy patrols and helped to protect World Food Programme (WFP) vessels from potential pirate attacks.
The ship’s company also conducted maritime training with regional forces during port visits to Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania and Port Victoria in the Seychelles. The maritime training helps local forces to strengthen their counter-piracy capabilities and maritime security in the region.
