Operation Atalanta Crews Continuing Counter-Piracy Patrols Over the Festive Period
December 18, 2015 - 12:44The men and women of Operation Atalanta will be continuing with their counter-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean during the festive period in order to ensure that the World Food Programme (WFP) aid destined for the Somali people and seafarers will remain safe from any potential pirate attack.
But at this special time of year for the Operation Atalanta crews, during their time off-watch, they will get the opportunity to call loved ones back home to wish them best wishes for the festive season.
The chefs on board the warships will also be busy cooking some special food and when off watch, the sailors will be able to make decorations to dress their mess spaces, sing Christmas songs, and perhaps exchange small gifts.
