Operation Atalanta Flagship ESPS Galicia Welcomes Spanish Ambassador to Oman On Board
August 17, 2015 - 12:57On Wednesday 12 August Operation Atalanta flagship, ESPS Galicia, hosted the Spanish Ambassador to Oman during a port visit to Muscat. The Force Commander, Rear Admiral Alfonso Fernández Gómez de Córdoba, welcomed His Excellency Mr Juan José Urtasun on board.
During the visit, the Ambassador, together with the Chief of Operations for the Royal Navy of Oman, were briefed on the European Union’s counter-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia that Rear Admiral de Córdoba is currently commanding from ESPS Galicia.
The Force Commander expressed his gratitude to the Spanish Ambassador for taking time to visit ESPS Galicia, and he thanked the Royal Navy of Oman for its continued cooperation with Operation Atalanta that is helping to strengthen maritime security in the Gulf of Aden.
Port visits such as this are an opportunity for the ship to re-supply stores and food.
