Operation Atalanta Flagship ITS Carabiniere Conducts First Friendly Approach

On Sunday 25 October 2015, ITS Carabiniere performed her first friendly approach (FA) with a fishing vessel off the coast of Somalia.
Operation Atalanta ships conduct FAs to help build relationships with the local Somali fishing communities and to understand their concerns.
The meeting also gave members of ITS Carabiniere’s crew the opportunity to discuss Operation Atalanta’s mission in the region and how they can work together to improve the maritime security in the region.
