Operation Atalanta Flagship ITS Carabiniere Hosts President of Italian Republic
November 13, 2015 - 11:33On Wednesday 11 November 2015, Operation Atalanta’s flagship, ITS Carabiniere, hosted the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
The President was welcomed on board by the Force Commander, Rear Admiral Stefano Barbieri.
During the visit, the President was briefed on the main activities and successes achieved by Operation Atalanta, and given a tour of the ship.
Before departing, President Mattarella addressed the crew of ITS Carabiniere saying; “Many thanks for the effort you have made so far to re-establish legality and freedom of navigation, nevertheless, vigilance should be kept high.”
