Operation Atalanta Force Commander Pays Visit to ESPS Santa Maria in Gulf of Aden
June 27, 2016 - 15:40When two Operation Atalanta warships, FGS Bayern and ESPS Santa Maria, met in the Gulf of Aden recently, the Force Commander, German Rear Admiral Kaack, took the opportunity to fly onboard the Spanish warship to meet her crew and commanding officer, Commander Antonio Posada.
Both warships are deployed in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean as part of their nation’s contribution to the EU Naval Force (Somalia) – a multinational naval operation that is helping to keep seafarers safe from acts of piracy off the coast of Somalia.
