Operation Atalanta Force Commander Strengthens Ties with Regional Partner during Port Visit to Madagascar
May 28, 2017 - 11:00During ESPS Galicia’s port visit to Madagascar, Operation Atalanta’s Force Commander, Rear Admiral Rafael Fernández-Pintado Muñoz-Rojas, visited key government and military officials in Antisaranana.
Following a call to the Spanish Consulate, the Force Commander made a courtesy call to the Commander of the military region 7 in Antisaranana, Colonel Robert Raoilson,
The Force Commander also visited the Mayor of Antisaranana, Sir Jean Luc Desire Djavojozara, the Prefecto-Civil Governor of Antisaranana and the Chief of the Region of Diana, Sir Eddie Jean Aime Tongazara.
The engagement finished with visits to the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, General Boto Lucien and the Commander of the Naval Base in Antisaranana Captain Jacky Honoré.
Visits such as this help to strengthen ties with the European Union’s regional partners who are working together to deter and disrupt piracy in the Indian Ocean. The visit concluded with a reception, on board ESPS Galicia.
