Operation Atalanta Force Commander Thanks Lithuanian Maritime Protection Team Embarked in World Food Programme Vessel MV Douro
November 17, 2015 - 15:39On Saturday 14 November 2015, ITS Carabiniere rendezvoused with World Food Programme (WFP) vessel, MV Douro, as it sailed along the Somali coastline on its way to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Somalia.
The meeting at sea gave the EU Force Commander, Rear Admiral Stefano Barbieri, the opportunity to thank Operation Atalanta’s Lithuanian Maritime Protection team, which is currently embarked in MV Douro as part of the European Union’s efforts to protect WFP vessels carrying humanitarian aid to the Somali people.
The current Lithuanian team will be replaced by another Lithuanian Maritime Protection Team in December.
