Operation Atalanta Force Commander Visits ESPS Meteoro at Sea
September 25, 2015 - 08:28On Wednesday 23 September 2015 Operation Atalanta’s Force Commander, Rear Admiral Alfonso Gómez Fernández de Cordoba, paid a visit to ESPS Meteoro at sea off the coast of Somalia.
The two Spanish warships had met at sea to carry out a replenishment of stores and the Force Commander took the opportunity to visit ESPS Meteoro. After being flown on board, Rear Admiral de Cordoba was given a tour of the ship and introduced to the sailors and marines on board.
During his visit, he addressed the ship’s company “Our hard work in the region has not gone un-noticed, and our aim to deter piracy is being achieved, however, we must continue our efforts and maintain our high standards to improve the maritime security to ensure that we continue to be successful.”
