Operation Atalanta War Ship ITS Libeccio Meets Local Seafarers at Sea
October 2, 2015 - 21:15On Friday 25 September 2015 Italian warship, ITS Libeccio, took time to meet local seafarers.
The team from ITS Libeccio was also joined by a Somali linguist from the Djibouti Coast Guard. During the meeting ITS Libeccio’s team provided the seafarers with food and water, and discussed the issues of piracy in the region.
Operation Atalanta protects World Food Programme vessels transiting the area, deters piracy and contributes to the monitoring of fishing activites off the coast of Somalia.
