Operation Atalanta Warships Conduct Joint Counter-Piracy Training off the Somali Coast
January 8, 2016 - 11:54On Thursday 7 January 2015, ITS Carabiniere and ESPS Victoria’s helicopter carried out a joint training exercise.
Following careful planning between both warships, ESPS Victoria’s helicopter conducted flight deck landing operations with ITS Carabiniere.
This was the first time that a Spanish Navy helicopter, and more precisely, a SH-60B helicopter, had landed on this type of Italian warship, providing both warships and the helicopter crew with a unique training opportunity. It also increased the common knowledge between both navies.
Following the training, both warships continued with their counter-piracy patrols along the coast of Somalia.
