Operation Atalanta Welcomes Pakistan Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah to Headquarters in London
February 11, 2016 - 11:46Earlier today the Deputy Commander, Rear Admiral Jonas Wikstrӧm, welcomed the Pakistan Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, to EU NAVFOR’s Operational Headquarters in London.
During the visit both Admirals welcomed the good cooperation that exists at sea between Operation Atalanta and Pakistan warships in the mutual fight against Somali-based piracy. There was also consensus that whilst pirate attacks against merchant ships and seafarers have been suppressed in recent years, there was still a need for vigilance or piracy would return to the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden.
