The delegation led by Vice Admiral Ade Supandi, Chief of the General Staff of the Indonesian D The Indonesian officers were given a detailed briefing on Operation Atalanta, the EU’s counter piracy mission off the coast of Somalia and a tour of the OHQ and Maritime Security Centre Horn of Africa (MSCHOA). The delegation then held discussions with Major General Smith and the Deputy Operation Commander, Brigadier General Dick Swijgman, to explore potential future cooperation in counter-piracy operations. The briefings were followed by a tour of the ships and by a question and answer session, where the participants could ask experienced naval personnel about their daily work. The trainees were very interested and asked many questions, particularly about the Replenishment at Sea (RAS) capabilities of the FGS Berlin and boarding operations conducted by the FGS Lübeck during its deployment as part of EU Naval Force. The briefings were followed by a tour of the ships and by a question and answer session, where the participants could ask experienced naval personnel about their daily work.
