Small New Zealand cargo ship hijacked in the Gulf of Aden
June 12, 2009 - 20:06Today at 1415 UTC, a small New Zealand cargo vessel of 2,950 tons was hijacked by pirates south of Oman in the Gulf of Aden. The hijacked vessel has now altered course towards Somalia. The EU NAVFOR Op Atalanta unit, the Spanish warship ESPS MARQUES DE LA ENSENADA, is at the scene of the incident.
The vessel was not registered with MSCH(HOA).
