Spanish Warship ESPS Meteoro Sets Sail to Join Operation Atalanta
August 13, 2015 - 17:23On Sunday 9th August 2015, Spanish warship ESPS Meteoro set sail from her home port in the Canary Islands to start her counter-piracy deployment with Operation Atalanta off the coast of Somalia.
ESPS Meteoro will be joining Operation Atalanta for her second time at the start of September, and is commanded by Lieutenant Commander José Almira.
In the three months that ESPS Meteoro will be deployed with Operation Atalanta, she will contribute to the protection of World Food Progamme ships and help to strengthen maritime security off the coast of Somalia.
