Suspected pirates handed over to Spain
October 12, 2009 - 15:46On Sunday 11 October the two suspected pirates taken into custody by EU NAVFOR Spanish warship CANARIAS were handed over to Spanish authorities.
The two suspected pirates were arrested 3 October when they left the hijacked Spanish fishing vessel the ALAKRANA in a small boat. They were intercepted and arrested by the EU NAVFOR Spanish warship CANARIAS. The suspected pirates have been transported by air to Spain for prosecution.
