A new movie brief has been uploaded to the MSC(HOA) Briefs section of the website. It has been created to explain the methodology behind Group Transits and is based upon the presentation sent to all registered vessel movements. There is still some confusion concerning the purpose of Group Transits are and why they are used. They are not convoys, but are used to promote the use of 'group protection'. With the large expanse of water to cover by all military units (over 2 million square miles), the Group Transit theory allows military units to establish the whereabouts of merchant vessels , whilst allowing merchant vessels to protect each other through constant communication.
