The Force rotation is commanded by the Portuguese Commodore Alexandre Serrano, and the Spanish ship, ESPS SANTA MARIA continuous as flagship of the Operation.

UPDATE ON THE ALLEGED HIJACK OF A CHINESE FISHING VESSEL OFF THE COAST OF SOMALIA

Rota, 05 December 2024 – After receiving an alert by the Puntland Maritime Police Force, EUNAVFOR ATALANTA has been monitoring a Chinese fishing vessel off the North-east coast of Puntland, Somalia, allegedly hijacked.

The first edition of a regional capacity enhancement activity co-organized by Operation ATALANTA, Djibouti Code of Conduct and Djibouti Regional Training Centre.

From 24 to 27 October, EUNAVFOR ATALANTA forces deployed in the Indian Ocean carried out several activities with the Kenyan Navy and the Kenyan Coast Guard.

On 16 and 17 October, Operation ATALANTA Commander visited Seychelles to participate in the EU-Seychelles Partnership Dialogue. He also took the opportunity to visit national authorities to strengthen the relationship with Seychelles. 

The new Force rotation is commanded by the Portuguese Commodore Armando Pereira da Costa Valente Tinoco, and the Spanish ship, ESPS SANTA MARIA is the new flagship of the Operation.

Operation ATALANTA conducted the “ALDABRA III” exercise in coordination with Seychelles and the Djibouti Code of Conduct.
