The Ukrainian frigate, Hetman Sagaidachniy, is continuing her counter piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden and along the coast of Somalia as part of the EU Naval Force.
One aspect of the national contingent on board is the helicopter detachment, which provides round-the-clock technical assistance to the embarked search and rescue helicopter Ka-27 and air surveillance missions as part of the EU Naval Force’s counter piracy patrols.
One of the key tasks for the Ukrainian warship is to conduct Friendly Approaches to local seafarers in order to increase their awareness about pirates’ activities and to show the presence of EU naval forces as a force for good, helping to keep the seas safer for fishermen.
