EU Naval Force Commander Meets Spanish and EU Ambassadors During Port Visit To Dar Es Salaam

The Spanish Ambassador to Tanzania, His Excellency Mr Luis Manuel Cuesta Civis, was hosted on board the EU Naval Force flagship, ESPS Galicia, during a port visit to Dar es Salaam on 18 May 2015.


The Ambassador was welcomed on board by the EU Force Commander, Rear Admiral Gomez Fernandez de Cordoba, who together with the ship’s crew accorded the Ambassador the ‘Colour of Honour’ on the flight deck. The Ambassador thanked and saluted all those present.  He was given a briefing about Operation Atalanta and the role and capability of the flagship. This was followed by a tour of the operations room, bridge and hospital on board and the signing of the ship’s guest book in the captain’s cabin.


After lunch, the Spanish Ambassador, Force Commander and ship’s captain visited the EU Ambassador in Tanzania, His Excellency Mr. Filiberto Ceriani Sebregondi. They discussed the importance of mutual cooperation and the strengthening of maritime security within Tanzanian territorial waters through collaboration between EU missions, such as EUCAP Nestor and the EU Naval Force.
