Lieutenant Julio Torralba from the Spanish Navy has been deployed with ESPS Numancia for the past month and has been the link between operation Atalanta and the merchant community in its transit across the Western Indian Ocean Region. He handed over the key role to Lieutenant Miguel Ángel Prendes also from the Spanish Navy at the EU NAVFOR Somalia OHQ.
The Spanish Navy has been providing NCAGS support at EU NAVFOR OHQ since September last year, shortly after the transfer of authority from Northwood (UK) to Rota (Spain) and last month on board EU NAVFOR flagship.
Speaking about his time deployed on board ESPS Numancia, Lieutenant Torralba said that his time spent on board ESPS Numancia integrated in FHQ staff has been an unforgettable experience in his naval career and expressed his availability to come back again.
