Sailors from Operation Atalanta’s flagship, FGS Bayern, trained with members of the Djiboutian Coastguard during a recent port visit to Djibouti.
The training, which was organised by FGS Bayern’s sailors, was well-attended by 17 members of the Djiboutian Coastguard and involved different activities, such as medical procedures and fire-fighting exercises.
Maritime training such as this on board Operation Atalanta warships is helping to strengthen the maritime capabilities and capacities of regional forces, which in turn is helping to keep acts of piracy suppressed in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.
