On 31 July 2015, Operation Atalanta flagship, ESPS Galicia, sailed into the port of Salalah to resupply the Spanish warship with food and stores.  During the visit, Force Commander, Rear Admiral Alfonso Fernández Gómez de Córdoba, took the opportunity to invite on board the commanding officer of INS Sunayna, Commander Sarvpreet Singh, as the Indian warship was also berthed in the Omani port.

Following a tour of ESPS Galicia, the commanders discussed their on-going counter-piracy operations and how they could work and train together in the future in the mutual fight against Somali piracy.

The following day Rear Admiral de Córdoba was invited on board INS Sunayna.  During the visit he stated: “I have very much welcomed the opportunity to meet Commander Singh and to visit his ship.  It is very important to develop and maintain robust partnerships and cooperation amongst the counter-piracy forces working hard in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean to deter acts of piracy.”
