Pirates fail in pirating MV HELLESPONT TRINITY due to Best Management Practices

On 16 December 2010, at 0250 UTC, the Marshall Island-flagged Tanker HELLESPONT TRINITY was unsuccessfully attacked by one skiff in the Indian Ocean, approximately 220 nautical miles West of Angria Bank, India.

The master, who was following Best Management Practices and when the attack occurred, increased speed and initiated evasive maneuvers to deter the pirates. The Pirates were therefore unable to board the vessel and stopped their efforts. No injuries were reported. The 28 crewmembers are reported safe.
