During their recent port visit to Muscat, ESPS Rayo’s ship's company welcomed aboard the Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé D’affaires and interim Embassy of Spain in Muscat, Mr Luis Fonseca Sanchez.
During the visit Mr Fonseca was given a briefing on the European Union’s counter-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia and Spain’s continuing commitment to Operation Atalanta, which includes the deployment of warships, maritime patrol aircraft and military personnel.
The Commanding officer if ESPS Rayo, Lieutenant Commander Rafael Naranjo, expressed his gratitude to Mr Fonseca for taking the time to visit his ship and meet his crew stating,
“My crew and I are delighted to welcome the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr Fonseca on board ESPS Rayo and we very much appreciate you taking the time to visit us today.”
Port visits such as this are an opportunity for the ship’s company to re-supply essential stores and food.
