EU NAVFOR Italian Warship, ITS Fasan recently welcomed representatives from the Galmudug Coast Guard and the local women’s organisation.
The visitors were treated to a demonstration on basic life saving skills on the upper deck, an open discussion on the role of EU NAVFOR throughout the region and the current issues facing the livelihood of the Somali people. The guests were warmly welcomed and with the help of an interpreter, interacted with the Italian crew throughout the day.
The Chairwoman of the women’s organisation of Hobyo, Mrs Sacda Axmel Jihal, also took the opportunity to come aboard and understand the work EU NAVFOR does in suppressing and deterring piracy off the coast of Somalia.
