On 15 February 2023, the Force Commander of EU NAVFOR Operation ATALANTA (FCDR), Portuguese Commodore Nuno Filipe Cortes Lope, handed over the Command of Task Force 456 to Spanish Captain Juan María Ibáñez Martín. 

On 2 February, EUNAVFOR Operation ATALANTA Commander (OpCdr), Vice Admiral Núñez Torrente met Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Mr. Kitack Lim, at IMO Headquarters in London (UK).

On 30 January, the Coordinated Maritime Presences in the North-West Indian Ocean (CMP NWIO) organized a Symposium to promote this new EU concept together with the enhanced maritime cooperation between the EU and Omani maritime forces.

Rota, January 10, 2023 - the designated Force Commander (FCDR) of Operation AGENOR, Captain Renaud Flamant (Belgium), paid a visit to the Operation Headquarters (OHQ) of the European Union Naval Force Operation ATALANTA, located in the Rota Naval Base (Spain).

The frigate ESPS Santa Maria, flagship of the European Naval Force – Operation ATALANTA, conducted a Local Maritime Capacity Building activity between 19th and 21st December, outside Somali territorial waters.
