On the 4th of July, EU NAVFOR Force Commander, Commodore Alberto Correia met Rear Admiral Gualtiero Mattesi, Commander of the NATO Counter-piracy Taskforce onboard the Italian destroyer ITS Andrea Doria, whilst patrolling the International Recommended Traffic Corridor in the Gulf of Aden.

On the 16 June 2011, the MV SUSAN K was released from pirate control after 70 days in captivity.  The vessel was pirated on 8 April 2011, 200 nautical miles North East of Salalah, Oman.

On the 14 June 2011, the MV SUEZ was released from pirate control after 317 days in captivity.  The vessel was pirated on 2 August 2010 in the Gulf of Aden.

 On the morning of 10 June, the EU NAVFOR German warship FGS Niedersachsen detected a suspected Pirate Action Group (PAG) whilst conducting a routine patrol in the Southern Somali Basin.

On the 10 June, the MV ZIRKU was released from pirate control after 73 days in captivity. She was pirated on the 28 March 2011, approximately 250 nautical miles South East of Salalah in the eastern part of the Gulf of Aden
